Ethical Use Notice

This tool is designed to improve AI-assisted writing for legitimate purposes. Users are responsible for complying with their institution's or employer's policies regarding AI-generated content. We do not condone academic dishonesty. Refrazr is intended to help you improve and polish writing — not to misrepresent work that is not yours.

Section 1

Acceptance of terms.

By accessing or using Refrazr ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including free tier users, paid subscribers, and API users.

Section 2

Acceptable use.

Refrazr is designed for the following legitimate use cases:

Content creation

Using AI to draft content and then refining it to read naturally, for publication on websites, blogs, or marketing materials.

Polishing AI-assisted drafts

When AI tools help you brainstorm, outline, or draft, and you want the final output to read in your own voice.

Non-native English improvement

Using AI to help express ideas in English when it is not your first language, and humanizing the result to sound natural.

Marketing and communications

Producing email copy, ad copy, website content, or social media posts with AI assistance.

Testing AI detection tools

Researchers and educators evaluating the accuracy of AI detection systems may use Refrazr to generate test cases.

False positive resolution

If your genuine human writing has been incorrectly flagged as AI-generated, using Refrazr to understand which patterns triggered the detector and to adjust those sections.

Section 3

Prohibited use.

The following uses are expressly prohibited:

Academic fraud: Submitting AI-generated or AI-humanized work as your own original work in academic contexts where AI assistance is prohibited by your institution's policy. You are responsible for knowing your institution's policies.
Impersonation and fraud: Using the Service to create content that falsely represents someone else's authorship, identity, or statements.
Legal and medical misrepresentation: Using the Service to produce content that misrepresents qualifications, facts, or professional opinions in legal, medical, financial, or regulatory contexts.
Spam and automated abuse: Using the API to generate mass spam content, or automated requests that exceed your plan's usage limits.
Illegal content: Submitting or producing content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or that violates the rights of any third party.
Reverse engineering: Attempting to reverse engineer the humanization pipeline, extract training data, or probe the system in ways that exceed normal use.

Section 4

Service availability.

Refrazr is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime, availability, or response time. Specifically:

Free tier users have no SLA. Service may be rate-limited or temporarily unavailable.
Paid subscribers and API users are entitled to the humanization credits they have purchased. Unused daily limits on monthly plans do not roll over — they reset each day. Word pack credits do not expire.
Planned maintenance may be performed at any time. We will attempt to notify users in advance via the website or email, but are not obligated to do so.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time. If a paid feature is permanently discontinued, affected subscribers will be offered a prorated refund.

Section 5

Pricing and payment.

Current pricing is published at refrazr.com/pricing. Prices are in USD.

Pricing changes: We reserve the right to change prices at any time. For existing paid subscribers, price changes take effect at the next billing cycle with at least 30 days' notice.
Word packs: Non-expiring credits. Once purchased, they remain on your account indefinitely unless the account is deleted or terminated for policy violations.
Monthly plans: Billed monthly. Cancel any time — your access continues through the end of the current billing period.
Refunds: Word packs are generally non-refundable once credits have been consumed. Monthly subscription refunds are considered case by case — contact [email protected] within 7 days of purchase.

Section 6

Intellectual property.

You retain all rights to the text you submit to Refrazr and to the humanized output you receive. We do not claim any ownership over your content.

The Refrazr platform, its code, prompts, scoring algorithms, and post-processing rules are proprietary. You may not copy, reproduce, or reverse engineer any part of the platform.

Section 7

Privacy.

Our data practices are described in detail in our Privacy Policy. The short version: we don't store your text. We only log billing metadata (timestamp, word count, success/fail). No text is used for model training.

Section 8

Limitation of liability.

Refrazr is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantee that humanized text will pass any specific AI detector. Detector behavior changes over time as detector vendors update their models.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Refrazr and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to: loss of revenue, loss of data, academic penalties, professional consequences, or reputational harm resulting from your use of the Service.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the total amount you paid to us in the 90 days preceding the claim.

Section 9

Account termination.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that:

Violate these Terms of Service
Engage in abuse or automated scraping beyond plan limits
Are associated with fraudulent payment activity
Are inactive for more than 24 months (free accounts only)

For paid accounts terminated for policy violations, any remaining credits or subscription time is forfeited. For accounts terminated for other reasons, prorated refunds may be offered at our discretion.

Section 10

Changes to these terms.

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users and via a notice on the website at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
